WHO  IS  YOGA  FOR?

And What Can I Gain From Adding It To My Wellness Routine?

ANYONE THAT WANTS TO IMPROVE THEIR OVERALL HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Yoga can be an ideal form of exercise for anyone looking to improve their overall health and wellness, as it is a low-impact form of exercise the can be performed by and modified for all ages and levels of fitness!

Individuals practice yoga to improve flexibility, strengthen and tone their muscles and joints, improve their postures, relieve stress and tension from their bodies, and promote relaxation.

ANYONE THAT WANTS TO HEAL A SPECIFIC PART OF THE BODY

Yoga can be used to alleviate the pain and improve the function of the affected area that is causing pain or stress.

For example, anyone that has suffered an injury or experiences low back pain, etc. often can find relief by stretching, strengthening, and breathing into these effected areas.

ANYONE THAT WANTS TO ALLEVIATE STRESS AND ANXIETY AND IMPROVE MENTAL WELL-BEING OR DEPRESSION

Yoga is a proven effective way to reduce stress by promoting relaxation and mindfulness.

Breath-work and meditation techniques of yoga also contribute to focusing the mind, training stillness, and finding inner peace.

Too, the physical exercises provided in yoga can aid in releasing endorphins that have mood-enhancing effects.

ANYONE THAT IS SEARCHING FOR AN ALTERNATIVE FORM OF EXERCISE

Yoga can be used as a great compliment to athletes- as it will improve balance, flexibility, and coordination.

Or, if you're like me, and simply want a type of exercise that you can find yourself doing and enjoying for years to come- as you strive for continued mobility and longevity of your body- yoga is a perfect option.

ANYONE THAT IS TRYING TO HEALTHFULLY LOSE WEIGHT

Yoga contributes to increased muscle tone and boosts metabolism.

Too, body awareness that yoga provides as your journey progresses will most likely lead to certain lifestyle changes. These transformations may include decisions you make regarding diet- providing your body with only what it is telling you it needs: proper hydration and nutrient dense whole foods.

In addition, breathing exercises done in yoga can assist in controlling appetite and cravings.

ANYONE TRYING TO IMPROVE SLEEP QUALITY

Relaxation techniques practiced in yoga can help to ease the mind and body into a state of stillness and restfulness- making it more simple to fall asleep.

Also, many forms of yoga contribute to tiring the body so that it can experience a sound sleep.

WHAT  ARE  SOME   OF  THE DIFFERENT  TYPES  AND  STYLES  OF  YOGA  THAT  YOU  WILL  EXPERIENCE  IN  MY  CLASSES?

And How Do They Each Benefit You?

VINYASA YOGA

~Links movement with breath

~Also is known as FLOW yoga

~Is a quicker, more dynamic moving yoga style

~Increased movement provided by Vinyasa Yoga, in an otherwise seated society, is absolutely essential for optimal health. Vinyasa yoga gets us moving.

~Without continual training, the mind will race, distracting us from working on the parts of our well-being that will actually help us evolve. Vinyasa Yoga stills the mind, giving it the ability to focus and process what each practice presents

~Inside the body {muscles, joints, and connective tissues) we hold the memories of every emotion we’ve ever experienced: sadness, fear, anger, love, joy etc. Through the asanas, we can tap into these memories and process our pasts (recent or far-off). It’s the postures that release the emotions out of the body. Part of being a yogi really means engaging in the process of healing: mentally, emotionally, and physically. Vinyasa Yoga helps us learn how to accept all the parts of ourselves that aren’t as evolved as we might like them to be, and focus our awareness to achieve all that we desire.

POWER YOGA

~A more vigorous and fitness-based approach to vinyasa yoga

~Involves more strength, cardio, and endurance training

-The list of Power Yoga benefits is endless:

  • Build strength

  • Increase flexibility

  • Tone muscles

  • Lose weight

  • Improve circulation

  • Prevent physical injuries

  • Boost immune system

  • Cleanse and detoxify impurities

  • Relax your mind

  • Calm anxiety

  • Improve focus and concentration

  • Find mental clarity

  • Uplift your spirit

  • Promote feelings of joy, exhilaration and vitality

  • ENERGIZE YOUR BODY

  • EMPOWER YOUR SOUL

YIN YOGA

~Slow-paced style of yoga postures or asanas that are meant to be held for long periods of time

~Often done laying down or seated

~The only yoga style in which practitioners are meant to disengage their muscles- A yin practitioner is trying to access the deeper tissues

~While “yang” yoga targets your muscles, yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones

~Yin yoga helps to stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues while also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts

RESTORATIVE YOGA

~Seeks to acheive physical, mental, and emotional relaxation

~Can be slow flow breath to movement, or, similar to yin yoga, can involve longer holding poses and asanas

~Restorative yoga can be helpful with stress management because it lowers your heart rate and calms your mind, allowing you to think clearly

MEDITATION

-Reduce Stress

-Control Anxiety

-Lower Blood Pressure

-Enhance Self Awareness

-Reverse Aging effects on the Mind/Brain

-Improve Sleep

-Generate Kindness & Positivity

-So much more

Ultimately, engaging in a style of meditation suited to your goals is a great way to improve your quality of life, even if you only have a few minutes to do it each day.

Why I am sharing this beautiful practice of yoga

Since day one of my decision to teach yoga, I've continued working tirelessly and lovingly in order to expand my profound personal experience and grow class offerings to ensure you the tools to aid your life in the most beautiful way.

I knew I wanted to create a place that my students felt welcome and would be a safe space for them to unlock their potential and grow their yoga journey {i.e. self-connection}. I'm proud of how far I’ve come in this process, yet remain committed to providing you with growing expertise, and an abundance of new classes in the future.

The WELLthy Life YouTube channel currently includes 60+ classes and will be an ever-growing and evolving library of multi-style yoga classes, programs, challenges, and meditations for you to practice in the comfort of your own home.

Targeting the benefit of having a consistent practice that you can commit to, many classes are created as a short to mid-length practice. This allows you to engage daily during busy schedules (when we need yoga the most) and provides a way for you to easily establish a regime that you can devote to as you spend this necessary time with YOU for your optimal wellness.

There really is something for everyone- from day one of your yoga journey and beyond- whether you are craving a strenuous workout and have weight loss goals, want to reduce anxiety from the rapid-pace of the world, or need something restorative to reduce pains in the physical and/or mental body.

A genuine bow of gratitude for you being here- embarking on your journey to the best you. I am more than happy to be a small part of your life experience and I hope you are able to benefit each time we share a practice together.
